The protest was organised to coincide with the debate to reduce the number of days the Union Jack flies outside the City Hall from every day to ‘designated days’.
The demonstration was initially described as ‘good natured in tone’, with boisterous singing of Rule Britannia and God Save the Queen, peppered with ‘No Surrender’.
Over thirty Union flags were waved with some even draped in the flag and cheers went out when some banners were attached to the windows of the civic building.
The Irish Tricolour being burned at the back of Belfast City Hall.
Huge cheers also rang out when the Irish Tricolour was burned.
